After our discussion in class on Thursday night about women leaders having fewer"skeletons in their closet"- I began thinking about where I had read about that idea before...
I realized that following a Capitol Historical Society breakfast, the issue caught some media attention. The link above (in the title) covers a conversation between female congressional leaders- and whether or not they have the time to actually maintain an affair.
While the article is only anecdotal- I thought that it was worth sharing, as it mirrored the conversation we had in class.
Thoughts on this?

Good article, Sabrina.
It is an interesting question as to why women appear to have fewer skeletons than men. (First, it's important to note that the skeletons can come in other forms aside from cheating - although lately it seems like it's the only matter that hits our/the media's radars.) Although KBH jokes that it's a matter of time, I question if it has more to do with females' genetic makeup. With our caring, trustworthy, moral, honest, etc. values (that were discussed in last class), I think that it's a contradiction for women to cheat on their husbands. On the other hand, I can't help but wonder if the number of Congresswomen equaled that of Congressmen, we'd see more examples of adultery/unacceptable behavior from women? (With 5 times more men than women in Congress, the statistics are incomparable.)
There is not doubt that women leaders are continuously being seen through a magnifying glass - everything they do, say, and wear is over analyzed. There is still so much room for progress when it comes to increasing the number of female leaders in our country. And maybe they are concerned that their actions will prevent the success of female successors - and therefore, they are on best behavior and ensure to remain far away from scandals. Or, perhaps the women who currently hold such positions in government don't have such skeletons?
In conclusion, the answer to why women have less skeletons in the closet can be a matter of genetic makeup, shear numbers of cases, time etc., but maybe it's more a positive reflection on the women who have already been elected.
